Sky Watch Friday and a Camellia Flower

Sky Watch Friday and a Camellia Flower

I have wanted to join in with Sky Watch Friday for several weeks but I had the self imposed rule that the picture had to be taken on Friday or the day before. I have the greatest respect for Dot and her blog. I think she is a wonderful photographer that really captures life around her area. This morning the sunrise was so pretty I thought this is my time. It is funny since we are expecting a freezing rain/rain storm today and I didn’t think the sunrise would be anything remarkable. There is over an inch of rain forecast and it should start soon. This is the view from my driveway. I am not going to work today but got up like I do everyday at 6 am (5:15 am during the season).

I won’t be updating tomorrow as I am going to try and sneak off to Long Island early in the morning. I want to see the Camellia Collection at Planting Fields Arboretum. This picture is a teaser as I hope to come back with a few nice Camellia pictures and will discuss them a little if I do. This one is Camellia ‘Tinsey’ and it was a beautiful red set off nicely by the white center. I do envy gardeners that can grow these outside. They just don’t make it outdoors in Connecticut.

Glad you joined in and thank you for the nice comments! No you don't have to take your picture on Friday but you sure got a good one.
I love Camellias! I grew up in south Alabama and in 1999 they made the camellia our state flower. It was wonderful seeing them bloom in the winter time when there wasn't much color.

These colors defy logic, don't they? You captured that "moment" when it all gets set on fire.

Our sunrise was red yesterday, too. Not this gorgeous though. I'm glad you caught it, and so beautifully! Red sky in morning, right?

I love camellias and I spent a lot of money on one that would grow here. Then the dogs ate it. The next year they dug it up. It finally gave up the ghost and never popped up again. :0(

My Skywatch is here. Thank you.

Beautiful images - that's what I always refer to as a molten lava sky.

Glowing.

C. Tinsey is a beaut. I can barely grow camellias right next to the house in a south exposure and would like to grow more but they definitely do suffer from the cold.

That's a stunning sky! I don't often see a sunset with such vivid colours as this one. Great capture!

Hello From the Central Oregon Coast!
We have Camellia's growing here & my daughter never was able to see one having grown up in Illinois. She is named Camellia Maria and she's as beautiful as the flower. I love these flowers & look forward to seeing more on here. Wish I had a bush of my own.

beautiful macro photography- great to see you are using an old 5400! always knew it was a good camera (so long as an inspired photographer is holding it of course). thank you..
