My First Daffodil

My First Daffodil

Well I have been waiting a couple of months for this one. Finally, yesterday, one of the Daffodils at work bloomed. Later in the day I found a couple of more blooming but this is the first one that I saw. It is a Dwarf Daffodil, only about 3-4 inches tall. I had to lie down on the adjacent granite walk to get this picture. There are several hundred Dwarf Daffodils in the garden, probably about 25 different cultivars. I love them all and think their smaller stature makes them interesting. I plan on doing a lot of Daffodil and Narcissus photography this spring and this was just a teaser. I got the picture below from a group of King Alfred Daffs that are just starting to bloom.

I want to thank everyone who has been visiting. It is a wonderful experience to share my botanical adventures with all of you. I don’t always get to respond to comments that readers leave here but I always read them and appreciate them. I noticed that I have been getting a lot of visits from the country of India but not too many comments. Come on people, speak up as I am very interested in your gardening culture, well, your culture in general. If you know of any interesting Indian gardening links I would love to check them out. No matter where you are from I am glad you could visit. Now that the season has started in earnest I haven’t had time to visit my favorite blogs or find new ones.

Its time to start getting the Rose Garden straightened out today. I seem to have minimized losses by putting a 1.5 foot layer of leaves on top of them. That is addition to the rose guards around the bases. I won’t be able to tell until I finish removing the leaves.
