Hollyhocks are totally not my fave (but my mom loves them) But this tiny little bud is beautiful! what a perfect delicate little thing!

Thanks so much, DFP... your comment on my August GBBD post led me to ID the dahlia, I think. Your 'Gallery Art Nouveau' was just a little on the pink side... so on a whim I googled "Gallery Art dahlia" and came up with 'Gallery Art Deco'--I'm 99.99% sure that's what I have, both by the flower photos and the descriptions I found online. :)
