Here is another Waterlily shot from Florida with the Nikon D70s and the 80-200mm 2.8 lens. I wasn’t used to shooting across the lily pond and being able to get a good sized picture of a flower. The lens is pretty amazing with excellent color rendition and sharpness.

This next photo is from Key West’s Mallory Square and also uses the 80-200.


My Pansies turned to mush over last weekend and need to be replaced. The owner of the house is a gardener and understands that you can get burned by trying to push the season a little. Since th flowers are for a memorial service I have to replace them on Friday (if it doesn’t snow).

Yesterday was a happy day as we scored tickets for the world’s greatest teenager’s summer tour. Selena Gomez! We were able to get a couple of meet and greet tickets for my birthday! Her she is singing her hit song ‘Naturally’.

One of the big happenings in Key West is the nightly sunset celebration at Mallory Square. It is festive and fun with a lot of different performers. A cruise ship was blocking the sunset at first but it pulled out fast and the sunset could be seen in all its glory.

This 80-200mm lens took this shot and it did a good job. It is really sharp and after the sun went down I took a few shots basically in the dark. With the lens and the great high ISO performance of the D700 combined the pictures actually came out pretty well.

We are moving up the coast today and will be reporting from the Miami suburbs for a couple of days.

This Skywatch was taken right off the back deck of the house in Kihei, Hawaii. I had only been in Hawaii a couple of hours when this photo op presented itself.

This next sunset was also taken in Kihei (I think it is pronounced key-hey) but down by the beach. This sunset went on for hours or so it seemed. That is the southeast shore of the island of Lanai in the distance. It was a very mysterious island that always seemed to lurking in the background. This was taken with the D70s and 105mm Nikon lens. One area that the D700 performs better than the D70 is with digital noise. This photo has a lot of noise and I tried running a noise reduction program on it but it didn’t help much. It is not often that I wish I had the D700 but this shot was one of them.


This one won’t make into the travel brochure :lol:
