Japanese Flowering Apricot

Japanese Flowering Apricot
Prunus mume 'Peggy Clarke'
(PROO-nus) (MEW-may)

This tree was blooming in the Ladies Border at the NYBG. It is really early and the flowers were a welcomed sight. This is the first time I have seen this cultivar and it is much different then the shrubby white flowered version of Prunus mume growing at the Estate.

This was a yellow flowered Cymbidium Orchid from the show. Its color was a beautiful shade of yellow with a hint of green mixed in.

Boy you are certainly prolific! Very hard to keep up with all the blogs. Lovely blue vandas and orchids in b&w. None of the trees are flowering yet but the buds on the cherries and service berries are filling out so we should have some blossoms soon. Lovely photos especially with the 50mm lens.

Those apricot blooms are very interesting. I find the smallest blooms are really intricate and interesting to me. That is a unique yellow colored orchid.

I've just bought a Prunus mume from my local nursery, who describes it as a 'choice' plant. It's absolutely gorgeous.

Such wonderful colors and your pictures capture them beautifully! I'm looking forward to seeing flowers in bloom soon. I saw my first of the season down in Westbrook this weekend. We're about three weeks behind the shoreline.

It was great to see this tree out and blooming! We are suppose to get rain, snow and sleet tomorrow so I wonder what is going to happen.
