I have decided to join the blogging craze. I am looking forward to taking a moment to find out a little more about the plants I have been photographing. I hope to explore all aspects of plants, flowers, trees and other garden related topics. Sorry about having to watermark the photos but there are a lot of people using them without permission.

Red Mountain Laurel
Red Mountain Laurel Kalmia latifolia (KAL-mee-uh) (lat-ee-FOH-lee-uh)
This is a 'real' flower. The impressive thing about the shrub it was blooming on is that it was 7 feet tall by bout 6 feet wide. Easily the biggest red Mt. Laurel I have ever seen.

Chris, check my FB pics later today, have a great photo of Kalmia 'Raspberry Glow'-- quite a beauty.
That is just astonishing - I've never seen anything like it! I wonder if it would grow here in the UK ...
Impressive red, love it.

Lovely red & white pattern on those blossoms - we don't have these where I live.
