This flower has undergone
some name changes over the years and I am not really sure what to officially
call it. It is a strange plant that seems to thrive on neglect and hard
conditions. This plant is growing in one of the hottest driest area of the
estate and is doing well. It is great to have something seem to actually want
to grow there. My feeling it is easy to love this plant to death. If it likes
the conditions then there isn’t much of a need for gardener invention with this
fall-blooming perennial.

It really is a strange plant! It really is hard to believe that this bunch of flowers is able to survive dry places, they’re like cactuses I guess, but you’ve mentioned that they’re perennial. Nevertheless, they really are very beautiful flowers, starry ones too!
