Greetings from Vermont!

Great pussy willow shot! Here in Vermont the unusual 80 degree days have sent the pussy willows into yellow pollen puffs floating in the breeze. I just ordered 4 different willows from Bluestem Nursery http://bluestem.ca. One is a corkscrew type used for floral arrangements, not the flowers. One is a French willow which I had as a kid--a great producer for abundant, fat catkins.

We used to have a pussy willow tree, but every year the black and yellow caterpillars got to it and stripped it clean. They did the same to my neighbor's weeping willow. You could see them marching relentlessly across our driveway from their tree to ours. So in the end we had to get rid of it. Very sad, because I love pussy willows.
