I have decided to join the blogging craze. I am looking forward to taking a moment to find out a little more about the plants I have been photographing. I hope to explore all aspects of plants, flowers, trees and other garden related topics. Sorry about having to watermark the photos but there are a lot of people using them without permission.
A cactus dahlia sounds like an oxymoron but here it is both soft and prickly. How interesting! I like these cropped macro shots best of all with the focus on composition and texture as opposed to full containment. It makes the viewer take a second look.
Gorgeous flower. Love the closeup. I've been obsessed with photographing flowers lately myself. And the bugs (dragonflies, grasshoppers, bees, etc) that seem to surround them.
You always take such beautiful photographs! And every time I see one of these cactus-flowered dahlias I wonder why I don't have them in my garden. They're gorgeous.

For the Chinese, if we see a cactus flowering, we will have good luck! :)

So dramatic - it almost jumps off the screen
THAT is BEAUTIFUL! It's supposed to be white but how many other colors can you see in it? Pink, lilac, yellow, orange, blue...
Thanks everyone. Dahlias are probably my most favorite flower to photograph. They almost always seem to cooperate!
